Dobroyd Point Ice cream van

Dobroyd Point Ice cream van, originally uploaded by jiulong.

All these B&W pictures were taken with the Leica R7 and usually a 90mm Elmarit-R lens with Neopan Acros 100 film, that I developed myself.

Yep, it's the Rolleiflex 3.5F again. This time with some expired Fuji Reala film, which I had developed as negatives and scanned.

Rolleiflex 3.5F Camp Cove

Rolleiflex 3.5F Camp Cove, originally uploaded by jiulong.

Taken on a nice sunny spring day - still far too cold to be swimming, in my opinion, but this fella thought differently. These pics came out all opaque and milky originally because I used expired fixer. When I learned of my error I re-dunked the grey negatives in fresh fixer and they came out all transparent and quite well, as you can see.

Dead fish at Camp Cove, Sydney, by Rolleiflex 3.5F

Test shot taken with my new old Rolleiflex 3.5F using Fuji Neopan Acros B&W negative film that I processed myself and scanned with an Epson V500. I had to rescue this film from the bin, because I used old fixer that left the negatives opaque at first - after hints from photo.net users I dug the 'ruined' negatives out and re-dunked them in fresh fixer and got this result.

Snaps from a quick visit to Port Douglas

Just back from a conference in Cairns. Managed to get a half day off in Port Douglas, about 50km up the road, along a wonderful coastline. It's a wonderful tropical place - crocodiles, mangoes, sugar cane and coconuts. I took a quick wander down Four Mile Beach with my Olympus XA (loaded with Kodak Elite Chrome slide film), and snapped the local surf lifesaving club kids practicing until told to desist by one of the coaches, seen here giving me the evil eye. Pity it's got to the stage when you can't take pictures of interesting local activities for fear of being branded a pervert.

Cairns Esplanade - sleeping under a tree

Cairns Esplanade, originally uploaded by jiulong.

I recently made my first trip up to Far North Queensland. Another country - it reminded me of Papua New Guinea, which is just over the Coral Sea as the crow flies. Took my old Olympus XA as a standby camera, and ran a couple of rolls of Kodak Elite Chrome through it. Not very impressed, to be honest, but I think it's because I set the ASA one stop too low, hence everything looks a bit overexposed.
